Ethernet IP status I/O Allen Bradley RSLogix 500 Help Please

My controls person and I have a "EthernetIP" Session working with the Write and Read Tag.vi example but it seems to only be a OPC connection. I can write and read to to the locations but the I/O connection status light on thePLC never goes to a set status, it only blinks indicating to thePLC it is not in a EthernetIP communication state.

Will the Toolkit truly do a EthernetIP communication or is it only theOPC state? How can i set the status from my end for the indicator?

Or do i not fully understand Ethernet IP?

Hi Bill,

I saw the title of your post is saying that you are using RSLogix 500 environment.

As I know, RSLogix 500 software is for SLC500 and MicroLogix processors.

Tags are the method used in Allen Bradley Logix5000 controllers (http://www.plcdev.com/an_introduction_to_rslogix5000_tags).

So please check what controller are you using.

And whether it can support tag method before you run the Write and Read Tag.vi example.

This example VI need to work on Logix5000 controllers in RSLogix 5000 software.
