why cfp 2100 freeze

Hello Friends,

I am using MOXA ethernet switch which connects 4 racks of cFPs. cFP-2100 is in rack one and cFP-1808 is in rack 2,3,4. THe probelm is that during sometimes of the day, the FPs are frozen. so we have to restart the power to come back to normal running condition.

I have seen a post which states that its a problem of EMI? is it really the reason for this problem?

Please help. coz i have 7 different station having the same configuration. out of 7 stations, one will freeze daily.

its a big problem for me.

I have tried to format and reinstall all the softwares in the cFPs. nothing seems to be working fine!!!!

I thought it could be a problem in my program, but if there is a problem in my program, then the freezing should happen immediately or at a fixed time...but here its totally random. i cant predict it...

please guys...my contact info 00973 36044881. iam from bahrain.

if you find any trouble with my question, please request for details.

regards

John

John,

Can you explain in more detail what you mean by "frozen" cFP?  Do you mean that you have I/O module outputs that quit responding?  If so what kinds of cFP I/O modules are you using and what are they connected to?

hello wayne,

thanks for the response.

yes the IO output modules quit responding to the PAC program. I have made a digital output dedicated for external watchdog. THe DO will blink for every 5 seconds to tell the operator that the PAC program is running. but sometimes the DO stays ON or OFF continuously until we restart the whole system. All DO and AO values will not change until the system restarts by the operator.

Station 1

Rack1    cFP-2100-----DI-330-----DI-330-----DI-330-----DI-330-----DI-330-----DI-330-----DI-330-----DI-330

Rack2    cFP-1808-----DI-330-----DI-330-----DI-330-----DI-330-----DI-330-----DI-330-----DI-330-----DI-330

Rack3    cFP-1808-----AI-111-----AI-111-----AI-111-----AI-111-----AI-111-----AI-111-----AI-111-----AI-111

Rack3    cFP-1808-----DO-400----DO-400----DO-400---DO-400----DO-400----AO-200----AO-200----AO-200

All these rack are connected to the ethernet switch MOXA by CAT-6 (RJ45 connectors).

So there are 7 stations in the whole plant with same racks.

All the MOXA ethernet switch is connected by Fibre optics.

Is this info is enough.

John,

This sounds like some sort of electrical disturbance is causing the cFP-1808 to latch up.  This kind of issue is often caused by an inductive load.  Going to need more details about your application to determine the source.  What kinds of loads are you driving with the DO-400 and AO-200 modules?  Are any of the loads inductive?
