improve PAC program restart time

Hello Friends,

Is there any settings available to reduce the restart time of the PAC program from cold or hot reboot.

Normally it take 2-3 minutes for the PAC to reach normal working condition.

The reason for the request of less reboot time is that our system uses siemens PLC. It takes only 30 seconds to reach normal operation condition.

regards

John,

2-3 minutes sounds like a lot of time.  So on the questions:

Version of LabVIEW and FieldPoint drivers?  (Always a good idea to include info like this when posting on the forums )

cFP has static IP address or is DNS being used?  Depending on the network, if may take DNS awhile to allocate the IP address.

Are you using shared variables in your project?  If not, have you disabled the Shared Variable Engine on the cFP?  The idea here is remove as many overhead processes as possible.

Wayne,

Usually how much time will it take to restart to normal condition?

LabVIEW 2009 and FP drivers 6. something but there are the latest.

cFP has a static IP.

Yes iam using shared variable in my project for date binding between host and controller

John,

Startup time for cFP depends on several factors, some of which are:

1 - How fast is the cFP controller and how much memory does it have available.

2 - How much NI supplied software is being loaded into memory.  You can use MAX to inspect what software is loaded on your cFP.  There may be some that you don't need loaded on your cFP.

3 - How many shared variables are you hosting on the cFP and what are the datatypes?

4 - How big is your startup application and what all does your startup application need to get done before it's done initializing?
