When I try to configure my fieldpoint bank using MAX, and click on "find devices", I get an error saying "Connection to a remote device timed out".

In this case it turned out to be the status light was blinking. An ethernet FieldPoint module is most likely in a bad state if it is returning this error. It will indicate this with the status light.
