Implementing Rotation into PID Controlled Mecanum Drive

I have recently run into a roadblock while tuning the PID for our mecanum-drive FRC 2018 robot. What I found was that it was nearly impossible to implement rotation using the triggers on an Xbox 360 Gamepad, as the PID would kick in and correct the rotation. Any help would be appreciated.
