Description:
Measures the voltage rise across the capacitor in a simple RC circuit and plots the output and the theoretical values.
Equipment used:
100µF capacitor; two 100kΩ resistors; HP 34401A Multimeter; HP 3631A Triple Output DC Power Supply;
Circuit Description:
Series circuit of resistors and capacitor. Power supply wired across the circuit with ground attached to open lead of capacitor. Resistors in series with each other and with capacitor. DMM connected across capacitor.
Special Intructions:
1. Remember to turn DMM and Power supply on so that it can be recognized by LabVIEW.
2. Due to limitations of the given DMM model, this VI can only be acurate on measuring circuits with time constant (τ) greater than or equal to 1 second.
3. Between measurements, discharge capacitor by shorting the lead attached to DMM (capacitor) and turn the output off on the Power Supply.
