Using the same tag on two Vis

I have a problem and I'm not sure if using DCAF can solve it:

I would like to use the tag system (as it works well), but some tags need to be displayed in more than one Vi. The problem I'm having is that both tags are controls, and they both need to write to the same channel on a MODBUS module, and stay in sync with eachother. If VI1's control is pressed (bool button), then when VI2 is accessed, the control that uses the same tag as VI1 should show that the button is pressed. If VI2 is then clicked, both VIs should show the button as unpressed. Both Vi's should pass the information to the Modbus module as they are the same tag.

I seem to be struggling to use the same tag on multiple controls of the same type on different Vis. Is there a way around this or can it simply not be done?
