Which version needed to be installed ? Issue with MAX

Few weeks ago, we have made a VI using 2 cards PCI-6025E and NI-6220.

We had installed the Ni-DAQmx 7.5 but we face some issue with the MAX to detect the card everytime we switch on the computer. Often need to start 4 times to see the cards and be able to work (it was under window2000)

We have decided to change the computer and go with XP.

However now we cannot started MAX (using the same driver as mention above), a critical window error appears each time.

Then I try to install (after desintalled totally the software and clean the register) Labview 7.0 express with Ni-DAQ traditionnal 7.4.0 (legacy) with Ni-DAQmx 7.4.0.

Max works but don't detect the cards at all (even if windows installed their drivers).

And when I try to open the VI that I was using on the other computor, it didn't works. The message:

 Error loading "nilvaiu.dll" ....

What I'm doing wrong?

We are using VI that where I think in the version NI-DAQmx 7.5, is it the problem?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Well, what you should do is to start over from the beginning with a new and clean installation.

First, I advise you tu uninstall every versions of NI DAQmx which are installed on your computer. To do so, you should use the software MSIBlast that I attached to this post.

Secondly, when you'll have uninstalled each version of NI DAQmx, you should run the other software which is a cleanup utility that will remove every installers/files which concern NI DAQmx.

Thirdly, could you download the new version of DAQmx which is available here : NI-DAQmx Download.

After that, you should turn off your computer, unplug all your cards from the computer and restart it.

Then reinstall NI DAQmx, turn off your computer, and re-plug all your cards.

Finally, reboot your computer and you should be able to see your cards in Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX).

Keep me in touch when you'll have done this.

Hope this helps,

Before doing that I want to be sure of something.

Is this NI-DAQmx driver compatible with labview 7.0? Following the link below, it seems that it will not :

https://knowledge.ni.com/KnowledgeArticleDetails?id=kA00Z000000kItpSAE&l=en-US

By the way I've started to install the first time this version and it didn't work. Then after I saw this webpage I restart all installation and install version inditated in my first post.

I should do it again?

Other question, could you confirm me that they is no uncompatibility between both cards PCI-6025E and NI-6220? Are you still selling PCI-6025E?

Thanks.

Fabien

Hello,

Well, you are right, I didn't notice that you were using LabVIEW 7.0 ! You can do the same things with NI DAQmx 7.4, the important part is to really unplug the cards before any driver software is installed and then replug them when it is.

Moreover, we have never seen in any case that there were uncompatibilities with any of our cards. DAQmx is a really really great driver that have required many developpers who have done things right to avoid this !

OK.

What about the Ni-DAQ traditionnal ?

With my Labview I got the Ni-DAQ traditionnal 7.0, is it okay with this one or do I have to install a updated version?

If you confirm. I will try tomorrow.
Thanks

Fabien

So even with this it didn't work.

I explain what I've done:

1. desinstall everything with windows and clean registe

2. Unplug the cards

3. I reinstall labview 7.0 with NI DAQ 7.0 Traditionnel + NI 488.2.170 + Ni Visa 3.0.1 + Max 3.0.1

4. Then reboot and install the driver  Ni DAQmx 7.4 which seem to have install Ni daq 7.4 traditionnel.

5. Plug the cards

6. Install the driver with windows ; cards have been reconized

7. Start MAX 3.1.1 wich works few seconds even if I've got the message:

"Can't fin RTE directory:

C:\windows\system32\cvirte

Unable to open C:\program files\national instrument\max\bin\cvirte.rsc"

Max cannot see the cards and after some time a windows error apprear and the program STOP.

If I try to launch the labview VI that we have work before with this I've got the error:

"Erreur du chargement de "nilvaiu.dll"" ....

Do you have an idea what I'm doing wrong?

Do I need to format the computor one more?

Thanks.

Fabien

Hello,

It seems like you have issues with LabWindows/CVI too, could you do that : Go to the Control Panel in Windows > Select Install / Uninstall Software > Select NI Softwares > Select LabWindows/CVI, LabWindows/CVI Run-time Engine, Measurement And Automation Explorer, LabVIEW, DAQmx, DAQ Trad and repair the installations.

Moreover if this doesn't help, can you check if you can see your boards in the Windows Device Manager, if they are shown, it would be like there is a MAX database corruption.

Thus, could you read the following links and do what is explained in and then tell me if this helped ?

My Devices Are Not Listed in Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX), but They Show Up in Windows ...

How Do I Recover From a MAX Database Corruption ?
