how do I trigger based on a voltage level on the NI 4070 (DMM)

I have the 4070 and I want to config the trigger to wait for a specific voltage value (like on a scope).  Any ideas on how to to do this?  Do you use pin 9 of the aux connector?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Joel,

Unfortunately, the DMM's trigger input on the AUX pin is not available for analog triggering. The trigger inputs were intended for handshaking/scanning operations with switching devices.  They can also accept a TTL signal from other devices for synchronization purposes.  The KB below talks about Configuring a PCI-4070 DMM to Receive a Start Trigger.

Page 11 of the 4070 specifications also talk about which triggers are supported by this device.

Joel,

One more thing.  Since the hardware does not support the analog triggering then we can always implement a software equivalent.  You could monitor the voltages that are being read by the DMM and throw out all readings until the readings are above a certain threshold.  This would have the "effect" of an analog trigger but without the hardware timing.  I hope this is an acceptable workaround and please let me know if you have any further questions on the matter.
