Which wiring is differential? (drawn diagrams)

Solved!

Hello Community,

I need your help wiring differential for our current input cards (NI-9253). We have also bought NI-9202 Voltage input cards which are also wired up for differential. Below are our wiring diagrams for each case currently. My question is: Is the NI-9253 card wired up for differential (ground referenced signal) and is it wired up correctly? Need some clarification on this please! I've looked through all wiring support on Knowledge.ni but still confused. (isn't in differential the ground is floating? no ref to ground)

Hi,

The NI-9253 supports typical 2- or 3-wire current transducer, as indicated on page 8-9 on the NI 9253 Getting Started Guide. Let me try to clarify about the sensor connected to the NI-9253: is it a 3-wire current sensor? If it is, then it should have 3 terminals: Power, Gnd and Signal. Then your connection diagram is correct with the Power, Gnd of the sensor connected to the power supply, the Signal terminal connected to the AI input of the NI-9253, with the Gnd of the power supply also connected to the COM of the NI-9253.

Hello,

Thanks for the reply and I can try to clarify more on my part about what we have. The sensor is a Viatran 349 pressure transducer, I posted the picture with the electrical stats. I'm not very familiar with these pin outs and now I'm questioning my drawing above. Signal +/- comes back to the NI-9253 card? What does calibrate reference too; Power coming in? Somehow, I need to wire this up for differential.

Hi,

I search through the internet and found this document that has the wiring diagram is helpful

https://www.viatran.com/static/media/uploads/manuals/98manalx49_d.pdf

Based on this wiring diagram, you can could follow the diagram on page 8 of the NI 9253 Getting Started Guide to connect the sensor with the NI 9253. Your external power supply will connect to the Vsup and COM on the NI 9253. Then connect the Pin A of the sensor to another Vsup pin on the NI 9253, and finally connect Pin B of the sensor to the AI input on the NI 9253. The Pin C and Pin D on the sensor are used for calibration purpose and do not need to be connected to the NI 9253.

Thanks for the help!

I attached the drawing for the pinouts from the NI 9253 to the "Loop-Powered Transducer". The clarification was much needed!
