I/O card for photon-counting via TTL

I need help determining what type of I/O card to buy.

I've contacted Hamamatsu Photonics and I am going to buy a photon-counting photomultiplier tube from them.

They told me to contact NI about which board I need to read the photon-counting signal.

The output from the PMT is, according to their literature, a TTL positive logic.  It will be a stream of pulses that correspond to photons measured by the detector.

I need to figure out what sort of I/O board I need to buy.  I need something that can measure the TTL pulses, and will compatible with Labview.  I need to use Labview to integrate the photon-count signal with the control software for a monochromator that the detector will be attached to.

I would appreciate any guidance in this matter

Thanks
Chad

Dear Chad,

I am not familiar with the photo-counting photomultiplier tube. However, The correct board for your application will depend on the specifications and price you need. I would start by taking a look at the data acquisition (DAQ) boards. There are some low cost M Series boards now that have 2 counters and some Counter/Timer boards that have 8 counters. There are so many boards that I think your best bet is to contact someone in Sales (888) 280-7645. They know all of the boards and are great at finding the correct board for a specific application. Have a great day!

Sincerely,
Marni S.
