data portal channels not visible

Solved!
Go to solution
Hello
Sometimes when I import data into Diadem it does not show the channels under the data portal. The data portal is completely empty. (yes i can see the data portal.)
How ever I can see the data under the "VIEW->Pre defined screen partitioning->One Channel Table with all channels "
I get this problem occationally and i know others who came across this as well. I've tried re-booting, but that doesnt work. Then I just give up and try after a couple of days and it works fine.
Has anyone come across this or know how this can be fixed.
Thanks
Anne

Hello Anne,

Which exact DIAdem revision do you use? Did you install the latest DIAdem service pack?

I use version 9.1 service pack 2. Is there a newer service pack?

The latest service pack is SP2c, but I'm not sure whether this will fix the problem. I've discussed this behaviour with some developers but we don't know what happens on your PC.
Which OS with which SP and which language do you use?
When does the problem occur - directly after launching DIAdem or did you work with DIAdem for a while (including data load)?
Does it occur if you are working interactively or if you are use a VBScript?

If we know this details we can try to set up a PC with a similar configuration to do some additional test, but it is necessary for us to reproduce the behaviour to find the problem and to fix it for the next revision.

Greetings

Hi Walter
I use XP service pack 2 English. The problem occures when I load data interactively. I've not noticed it happening through a script.
This is how it usually happens
I try to load the file from "file->open". Then it gives me an Access violation error.
Then i try browsing for the file in the navigator view and it loads fine. But nothing is displayed to the data portal.
I dont know if this helps. I have been using diadem for a while and it didnt give this problem before.
Thanks
Anne

Anne,

is it a special file format (non TDM or DAT) or a special file structure?
If so can you provide me such a file?

Greetings
Walter

Ive tried tdm, ascii, ms access. Files that usually works doesnt work at that moment. So i dont think it depends on the file.

Has the issue been resolved for the channels not visible.  I know 2 fellow employees that just got new computers with Diadem installed that is having the same problem.  Version 9.1 with service pack 2 is installed.

I have encountered the same problem.   I am using the same version, SP and OS as Anne.

If I 1.) drag a .tdm file from the external data window into the data portal, or 2.) load an ASCII file, it doesn't show up in the data portal even though the message bar says the filed loaded.

I've tried a couple more times without success.
