Unknown unit error

Solved!

I am trying to perform some analysis on some strain measurements I have recorded through a strain gauge and when I try to make a calculation using one of the channels in analysis, it give me an "unknown unit strain error". Any help?

Hi,

You can not use "Strain" as a unit string because this is not defined by default.

Typically you have a voltage signal returned by your strain gauge for which you need "V" as unit string.

The best way to modify the unit string is using the selection dialog which can open with the three dot button in data portal:

Unit2.png

Then you can select valid unit strings already existing in the DIAdem unit catalog:

Unit.PNG

You can not find "Strain" here as it does not make sense as a physical unit value.

If you want to add your own unit strings to the DIAdem unit catalog follow this documentation:

http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370858N-01/procunitcatalog/procunitcatalog/procunitcatalog_c...

I think your error shows up because you have the quantity based calculation activated:

http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370858N-01/concepts/diadem_4_05/

Try to deactivate this in the Analysis tool bar and run your analysis calculations again.
