Howdy!
I've run DIAdem some in the past, and am getting back into it again. I installed DIAdem 2019 SP1, and have just started working through the Basics-1 training, but am seeing unexpected behavior when I get to exercise 2-1 "Searching for Data".
When I right-click a folder, and click "Add to Search" - I get a spinner, than nothing. Task Manager says "Not Responding" for a while. No error messages.
I did a un-install / re-install of DIAdem, and am seeing the same behavior:
Open program, Try to add folder to Search.
Result: Spinner
Task Manager shows:
2 & 3 Apps under DIAdem (3)
After a while, the “Not Responding" goes away, but nothing has been added to search.
DataFinder Index still toggles between appearing / not appearing
Looking in the logs, here's the crux section from my last attempt:
--
**** DIAdem START Version: 19 on 5/21/2020 at 2:25:29 PM
37 2:25:33 PM Info:
38 Loading file "C:\Users\Public\Documents\National Instruments\DIAdem 2019\Data\EXAMPLE.TDM" ...
39 2:25:33 PM Info:
40 File 'C:\Users\Public\Documents\National Instruments\DIAdem 2019\Data\EXAMPLE.TDM ' loaded.
41 Cannot load the specified data store "My DataFinder".
RequestorBase(92): ERROR(60): Error: cannot connect to server.

Some screen shots below - any idea what could be going on & how to diagnose / fix? Trying to "reset" the Data Finder via "Settings > My DataFinder > Reset" has no effect.
Thanks in advance for any help!

And ... I forgot to attach the DIAdemDiagnosticsInfo.ZIP file that I created at some point while trying to fix this (before my re-install, but looks like the same error message).
So here it is, attached.

Howdy Ken,
It looks like all of your symptoms are stemming from your "My DataFinder" not being 100%. Let's start by checking the corresponding Windows services and see if any of them are not started. Check in your Control Panel, under Administrative Tools and Services-- do you see any "NI ..." services that are not in the "Running" state? The "NI PSP Service Locator" is a common culprit in this scenario.

Thanks so much for the help, Brad!
Yeah - I won't stop the training - I thought the DataFinder was more integral to everything under the hood. But I just got off the phone w/ my manager, who did this training last week and saw the same thing - he just skipped this exercise and said all the fun stuff was later anyways. So - excited to get back into it.
Here's a screen-shot below of the services tab in my Task Manager - There are a few NI- named services that are not running, but I don't see the "NI PSP Service Locator" listed here.
I clicked on "Open Service" for the 1st one that is stopped (NIApplicationWebServer64) - and saw that the PSP Service Locator is in there (?), but appears to be running. If I try to "start" this service anyways - I get the error message shown (Error 1069: The service did not start due to a login failure.)
Suggested Next steps?

Howdy,
So - I dug a little deeper - found this resource, which looked promising:
Error 1069 When Trying to Start NI PSP Service
https://knowledge.ni.com/KnowledgeArticleDetails?id=kA00Z0000015CrfSAE&l=en-US
But even after logging on as a Local System account (after which I see that the NI PSP Service has started correctly and is listed as "running"), I'm still seeing the same behavior in DIAdem, and still seeing the same error in the DIAdem logs:
72 Cannot load the specified data store "My DataFinder".
RequestorBase(92): ERROR(60): Error: cannot connect to server.

And ... now it's working. I have no idea why, but I'll take it.
Maybe it just needed a few more re-boots and a long weekend of rest....
