Custom property max string length?

I browsed the help but couldn't find what the maximum length for a custom property of type String is. I know it's well over 255, but is there an upper limit?

Hi Gs,

We have no limits defined for the length of a string property, so it could be possible to store a GByte string (or more) there. But we never tested that and we are not sure whether it is useful or makle sense to do that! We tested it with typical strings which are of course longer that 255 Byte.
