Hello, I am trying to rephrase my first post.
On a very fresh Win XP installation I was not able to install NI-DAQmx 15.5.1, which should be compatible.
Here are my error messages:
It's german and just tells us that the installation failed and asks if you want to continue.
When you continue or stop the installation, in both cases the follwing message is shown when the setup has finished:
Translation: Installation failed. Fix the problem and try again.
Ok, so there was a problem.
Question 1: What problem? Is there any log file or more information?
Question 2: Any idea how to fix this? As said, I am using a completely clean WinXP SP3 installation.
I hope someone can help. Thanks.

Hello,
Does the driver work? If you didn’t install all of the components of the DAQ-mx driver, this error may come up when the installation is finished. You will want to reboot and see if your device is recognized in MAX.
The log file is stored here:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\National Instruments\Installation Logs
(Location of NI Installation Log Files)
Try another version and see if you get the same error. The DAQ-mx driver only supports 32-bit versions of Windows XP.
Hope this is helpful!

Together with the official NI support we were able to find a solution.
1.)
You need to install LabView before the NI-DAQmx driver.
2.)
We switched to NI-DAQmx driver version 14.5.1
It is WinXP compatible and contains the driver for that card.
3.)
In the Windows "Device Manager" there was still a problem.
Just update the driver with "auto search" and the device and the driver is initialized properly.
And of course many reboots between each step. 😉
