Digital Train Output using Counter/Timer on USB 6501

Yes I was wondering if I could use the Counter/Timer on the USB 6501 (P2.7) to output a digital pulse train? Or can it only operate as an input counter/timer? I can do this of course on my 6601 easily, but I am already using all 4 counter/timers and have the need for one more. Just wondering what the 6501 can do as a counter/timer? And how do you confiigure P2.7 to be a counter/timer?

Thanks
Jeff

Hi jstir,

Thank you for posting on the National Instruments forums.

The 6501 can be used count digital edges or generate pulses software timed.  It cannot do a finite pulse generation like the 6601 because that requires two counters.  It is possible to use one counter output a finite digital pulse train which can be found here:

Using One Counter to Generate a Retriggerable Finite Digital Pulse Train with a PCI-6602 and DAQmx

You can find more information about using the counter on the 6501 in this forum thread:
