Simple Simulation of Element Deflection Using LABVIEW 3D Picture Control

Objective

To demonstrate the deflection occurs by means of uni-axial loading (in x- direction). The simulation makes use of the 3D Picture scene and Box Object. The project can be extended to simulate deflection due to bi-axial or tri-axial loading. I created it as a first step towards implementing deflection measurements in Mechatronics Lab at Misr University for Science and Technology. I hope it helps you to grasp 3D Picture Control easily.

Instructions

  1. Run the VI
  2. Use the right side knob to display the effect of deflection due to axial loading.

Future Work

  • Implementing multidimensional dimensional loading. This will demand using meshes instead of primitive objects.
  • Using Sensor Mapping to display the strain across the deflected element.

The attachments has 2 files for LV 8.5 and LV 2009.
