Hi Chicago User Group,

thanks Mark for promoting the Advent of Code for LabVIEW users.

Advent of Code is an Advent calendar of small programming puzzles for a variety of skill sets and skill levels that can be solved in any programming language you like. I started a private leaderboard for LabVIEW developers. So anyone who solves the puzzles using LabVIEW can add this leaderboard to their personal account and compete with fellow wireworkers.

Follow these steps to join the leaderboard :

  1. Go to https://adventofcode.com/
  2. Select [Log In] in the top menu
  3. Identify yourself using 1 of the suggested services (you only have to login to that service the first time; this uses OAuth). Possible services are [GitHub] [Google] [Twitter] [Reddit]
  4. Once you're logged in your name/nickname will appear at the right top of the "menu"
  5. Select [Leaderboard] in the top menu
  6. Select [Private Leaderboard] in the description
  7. Enter the code for the LabVIEW leaderboard and select [Join]    :     987334-ea1e3697
  8. Now you can see the leaderboard and check that your name is on there
    1. Select [Leaderboard] in the top menu
    2. Select [View] for the leaderboard with my name "Stefan Lemmens"

To solve the puzzles you can select [Calendar] in the top menu. A new puzzle will appear each day starting at December 1st.

In the mean time you can change the year in the menu [Events] and try some from previous years to practice.

We've also setup a Discord server to discuss the problems and solutions. It's a very nice way to learn from each other and see how the same problem can be solved in many different ways. You can use this link to access this server : https://discord.gg/AgKWURdGak

Please also tell something about yourself on the introduction channel, it's always nice to know who's behind a (nick)name.

If you have any problems or questions let me know or use the support channel on the Discord.
Hope to see you soon on the leaderboard and the Discord.

Good luck and have fun.

Best Regards,

Stefan
