In measuring conductivity with volt meter I have found that I can not measure conductivity across the ground line. Infact the ELVIS DMM reads 50 ohms.
Alternatively measuring resistance if you put two resistors in series and leave both ends connected nothing and measure the resistance of the second resistor it reads correctly. If you then ground the second side of the resistor it no longer read correctly but a fluke DMM does read it correctly. This tells me that the DMM is referenced to ground.
I think this is a problem as a volt meter should not be referenced to ground but rather a floated reference.
An engineer replied and said that is is referenced to ground.
I would like to talk more on this if anyone has comments.
