NI Switch Executive generating errors during validate

After installing NI switch executive, when the default SwitchExecutiveExample is validated following error message is generated. Getting the same error when I try to validate third party IVI driver..

Papaiha,

It sounds like the error is caused by a failed IVI logical name lookup. SampleMatrix1 and 2 are installed by the installer and the necessary IVI infomation is created after you first reboot. If the installation has been succesful and after you reboot you should be able to validate SwitchExecutiveExample wihout errors. Something got corrupted in the installation process.  At this point I would remove NISE and reinstall.

What version of NISE do you have?

Does your third pary IVI driver come with an installer that might overwrite the installation of VISA on your system?

I would try installing Switch Executive on another computer without the third pary IVI driver and try validating the SwitchExecutiveExample.  Alternatively, you could try uninstalling both the 3rd party IVI driver and Switch Executive from your computer and then reinstall Switch Executive only.

Hi,

Reinstalling the Switch executive helped in passing the validate of default switch configuration, However third party IVI driver is still failing validate. While I was re-installing switch executive 2.0, I got the following error couple of times:

Error 1714: The older version of IVI Engine2.0 cannot be removed.

After installation is complete, before finish button message was: Installation failed please correct the problm and try again.

There are two items on my computer which I cannot uninstall:  NI IVI Engine 1.83 and NI labview Database connectivity tool set. Theye might have got installed during my previous version installations, Now I couldn't locate those CDs.

Please let me know if there is a way out, other than rebuilding the PC...

Are you running under Windows XP?  Does the IVI Engine show up in MAX under your software tree?  If so, does that version match the version listed in Add/Remove Programs?

Check out this KnowledgeBase entry.  The IVI engine could be a part of a LabVIEW 6 installation.

Let me know if this helps out at all...
