Greetings.
I've recently installed Multisim 12 and have not modified the basic operational settings, that I know of....
Shortly after the install, the application did an update.
Your help is apprecaited in figuring out what is going on...
Steps to recreate:
1. start multisim.
2. open a very basic circuit which includes a 10V battery with ground, a lamp, a voltmeter across the lamp and a ammeter in series.
3. use "switch" in upper right of multisim appliation window to start the simulation.
4. lamp shows a "illumination" and voltmeter shows 10V and ammeter shows .1A circuit current.
5. use switch to stop the simulation.
6. no change in circuit measurements or lamp illumination.
7. same results if the simulation start arrow and red square are used to start and stop.
If I close the circuit file and reopen it, the circuit starts in the OFF condition, but will not go OFF if when stop simulation is selected.
This occurs with multiple circuits, those provided by college and one that I created based on the same design.
Restarting Multisim has no effect to correct this observation.
It doesn't seem normal that when stopping the running simulation, the values or the apparent lamp illumination don't change. Shouldn't the simulation return to the begining state (OFF) when I stop the similation?
I've captured the circtuit status after stopping the simulation.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Zan

I'd like to add some information.
If I design a circuit similar to the one that the college provided the results are similar but not exactly the same.
1 Start simulation shows simulation running.
2. stop simulation does not change the readings in the ammeter or voltmeter.
3. when pushing the start simulation button a second time, the ammeter and voltmeter will go to zero momentarily and then show the circuit readings.
4. stopping simulation does not cause any changes in readings.
Is this the way Multisim is supposed to work?
Thanks for your time.

Hi zanzarista,
Multisim retains the values for everything in the circuit when the simulation is stopped. What this means is that you are able to view the values on your instruments (like Multimeters) even after the simulation is stopped. When you start a simulation again, everything starts over and that is why you see a 0 momentarily.
This is the way the software is intended to work.
Hope this works.

Hi Tayyab,
Sorry for aksing the most basic of questions!
Thank you for your explanation, it makes sense when I think of it.
I sort of expected the lamp to go out.
Thanks again,
Zan

is there a way to actually turn this feature off?
