simulated devices

If I use a simulated DAQ device like a 6229, is it possible to route an output back to an input? I thought such a thing might be possible with the Connect Terminals. Since they are simulated terminals anyway and we are just passing fake data I had hoped that the  the software would be smart enough to pass the data back through the simulated device. Without that capability a simulated DAQ seems to be pretty worthless for testing any input tasks.

I think I understand from the documentation that you can't do it, but maybe somone has knowledge that I had missed.

Thanks.

Hi Mariahnova,

Unfortunately, no, there is no way to wrap simulated data from an Output channel back into the Input channel.  One alternative is to replace the Read behavior in your application with whatever simulated data you're writing.  Hopefully you can make something like that work for you.

If this is something you'd like as a DAQmx feature, I would suggest checking out the DAQ Idea Exchange.  There is already an idea like this!
