Hello all,
I had been using a Prosilica GC650 GigE camera on a real-time target with no problems. Today I tried to connect to the camera in MAX and I get the error above. I have read every thread I could find regarding this error and have tried the following with no luck...
- Deleting the xml, iid, and icd files with the camera disconnected and unpowered
- Upgrading the camera firmware to 1.36
- Repairing NI-IMAQ 4.3 install
- Repairing NI-IMAQdx 3.4 install
The Prosilica camera viewer works fine. Another oddity is that the same camera works fine in the same version of MAX on another computer with matching hardware. That computer has identical software versions (Labview 2009, IMAQ, etc) to the problem machine.
I did not install any software or updates between the time the camera was working and now (about 1 week).
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Chris

Hi Chris,
The only thing I can think of is to check the link speed. I believe some of the attributes on the Prosilicas go out of range when they are connected at 100Mbit instead of 1Gbit. Double-check that both the camera and network interface card show a gigabit link. Maybe you have a bad cable that is causing the link to drop down in speed.
If that doesn't help, let me know and I can try suggesting some other things we can try.

Thanks for the reply Eric, you definately put me on the right track.
I got the camera to work by lowering the packet size in MAX. It is strange that it still works with the max packet size on the other PC with the same hardware. I checked the cables and they were OK. Both PCs have their own gigE switch with other devices attached, so my guess is that my switch is reverting to a lower speed/packet size because of the presence of some slow network device (I have heard of this before, though never encountered it).
The lower packet size is fine for my application, but I may try disconnecting all other devices to see if it was the switch.
Thanks again!
