Hey Steve,
I think that sounds like a sounds plan of attack. I would look into the "Max Copy Configuration.vi" and see if that helps out, also just the Advance File I/O pallete has some good copy and directory vi's.
Let us know how it goes, and/or if you get hung up on anything.
