Problem creating installer - no additional installers included

I am having a problem creating an installer from an executable. I am able to create the executable with no problems, however, when creating the installer I get the following error message:

CDK_Build_Invoke.vi.ProxyCaller >> CDK_Build_Invoke.vi >> CDK_Engine_Main.vi >> CDK_Engine_PreBuild.vi >> CDK_Validate_DistParts.vi >> CDK_DistParts_GetInstalledProducts.vi >> NI_MDF.lvlib:MDFProdInfoList_Open.vi

Visit the Request Support page at ni.com/ask to learn more about resolving this problem. Use the following information as a reference:

That's it... I get no additional information.

I have searched on found other similar error messages on these forums, and so far I have tried the following with no luck:
1. delete the install builder and create a new one from scratch
2. delete the executable builder and create a new one from scratch
3. perform a mass compile on the entire directory containing the CDK_*.vi's listed in the error message
4. perform a mass compile on the entire directory containing the NI_MDF.lvlib file

Please help!!

Thanks Benjamin, but I am still having the same problem...

I installed DAQmx 8.6.1 (the latest off the NI web site) - and still no luck.

I am now getting a slightly different error message:

CDK_CreateNewWizard_Invoke.vi.ProxyCaller >> CDK_CreateNewWizard_Invoke.vi >> CDK_InstallerConfiguration_Editor.vi >> CDK_Build_Invoke.vi >> CDK_Engine_Main.vi >> CDK_Engine_PreBuild.vi >> CDK_Validate_DistParts.vi >> CDK_DistParts_GetInstalledProducts.vi >> NI_MDF.lvlib:MDFProdInfoList_Open.vi

I am stuck!!! Please help...

Hello,

I would like to report this error to R&D, but we will need more information.
What version of LabVIEW are you using?  Which installers are you trying to include in your main installer?

You can try download NI-DAQmx 8.7.1 as well and try with that, since that is currently the latest version online.

Have a great day!

Thanks FieldKam,

I am using LabVIEW 8.5. I am not including any other installers. I will try to loading the DAQmx8.7.1, but will not be able to do so until next week - I will be traveling on business.

I will check this forum regularly in case you have further questions... thanks again.

Hello,

Thanks for your response!

I have informed R&D of this issue and will let you know whether I find anything.  Which version of LabVIEW are you using?

Have a great trip!

Hi FieldKam,

I just downloaded and installed DAQmx 8.7.1 - and still no luck.

I have tried just about everything. About the only thing left for me to try is un-installing and re-installing Labview 8.5 - Is this worth it? Is it possible for me to provide you with my source code and have you try and create an installer?

thanks again!

Hello,

At this point, it might be a good idea to try and rebuild your installer, but this time do not include the DAQmx drivers.  Does this work?
If possible, start off with the simplest build, and one by one add components to see what is causing the error to occur.

Please try this first, and if needed you can send in a support e-mail from ni.com/ask with your files, as long as they are not too large, for us to try the build as well.  But at that point, it will be necessary for us to make sure that we have the same software versions.

Please let me know what you find.

FieldKam, I have tried re-creating the installer many times... often times I get a complete crash of LabView when I get the above mentioned failure, delete the installer from the project, and try to create a new installer during the same LabView session (i.e without closing the project or LabView). I get a crash 99% of the time when I select the "Additional Installers" tab. That particular tab will not show any options within it, and after a few seconds it crashes.

What I have been able to do is the following:

1. after a fresh PC boot (i.e. upon the first instance of running LabView), I open my project and create an installer ( * I only create and save).

2. I then close the project, close LabView, and reboot the machine.

3. after the reboot, I open the project and attempt to create the installer. I will observe the same error mentioned in my opening post. I attempt to create the installer in the same session (i.e without closing the project or LabView) multiple times with the same error result. Often times, after 4 or 5 failed attempts, the installer is successfully created. (???)

I have done this twice this week. I have taken the resulting installer and installed the application on another machine with no problems.

I am confused as to what the problem may be. But at least now I have been able to get an installer distributed successfully.

Hello,

I am glad that you were able to get this installer created finally.  Are you confident that you chose the same options each time?

Also, you could try to recreate your project from scratch and re-add all of the files.  This may get rid of this behaviour
