Using Differential Encoder With USB-6221 and LabView

I want to connect the following: http://www.ifm-electronic.com/ifmde/web/dsfs!RB1015.html

with an USB-6221. Currently I have the connections as follows:

Ctr0 SRC, PFI 8: nothing

Ctr0 GATE, PFI 9: nothing

Ctr0 AUX, PFI 10: nothing

Ctr0 OUT, PFI 12: nothing

Ctr0 A, PFI 8: braun

Ctr0 Z, PFI 9: rot

Ctr0 B, PFI 10: grau

So the first question would be if this is the right connection scheme.

With this connection I am currently able to read the counter (edge-counting) in LabView with the DAQ-Assistant.

What I want to do now is measuring irregularities of the rotation (different times between two steps) and the direction of the rotation.

Unfortunately I do not really know how to do the former the right way and have no idea at all how to do the latter.

6221 has single ended A, Z and B lines. In differential encoders you have A+/A-, B+/B- and Z+/Z-. So you will need a differential to single ended convertor to connect 6221.
