Power supply 2 NI 9870 Modules + cRIO9074

Solved!

Hello,

Is ist possible to connect power supply of 2 NI 9870 Modules and cRIO9074 by just one NI PS15 Power supply? There are two connections for (+) and two for (-). So in the normal case it is enough for 2 devices. Can i use one spot for 2 wires (e.g. two NI9870 modules)?

Regards.

I took a quick look at all the spec sheets and power wise you have the following:

It looks like the PS15 24-28V @ 5A.

The 9870 requires +8 to +28 VDC and consumes up to 2W so that's ~70mA @ 28v.

The 9074 requires 19 to 30 VDC and consumes 20W Max so that's ~.7A @ 28v.

So power wise you should be fine.  You should double check these numbers and determine if you require power isolation between the controller and the modules.  If you have any concerns you should contact NI support before proceeding.

Thank you for your fast answer.

So thats the question. Do i need power isolation between the modules? I have already connected rio and one of the modules with the same power source (PS15).

I don't think you'll need isolation on the NI hardware side, but you might on the devices you're connecting the modules to. Typically you do not need isolation, but again it depends on what you're connecting to.

You are right. Both modules are working properly from same power source.

Thanks for your answers!
