I have a logitech quickcam express, I need labview to extract information from the web camera. How do I do this? Can this be done using the IMAQ functionality? Need urgent help!

Chris,

There is a Video for Windows driver that some people have had success with. It is available in the info-LabVIEW archives. I think you can get there from www.brianrenken.com.

Chris -

Here are two more sources for extracting image information from a web camera in LabVIEW. The attached .zip file contains a LabVIEW VFW VI. The Readme file describes how to use it (I believe this is the same one from the info-LabVIEW archive). Also, you can visit http://inventeering.com and demo their version of a LabVIEW VFW VI.

Dear Sir,

I have downloaded the zip file put by you. I would like to know from you how do I use it for acquiring the image directly from the USB port using a webcam.

It would be nice if I could get a reply fast.

I was able to monitor the front panel in another pc but the real-time image (video window) does not appear on this pc, it only appear in the server pc. why?

Quite an old thread.

Is this method still in use? Or that IMAQ for USB surpasses all of its abilities? I just had a look at the link given by Jack, and found it interesting. Hence kudos. 🙂

The IMAQdx drivers now include USB cameras and can do much more than the old methods, I think.  I would think it would be better to invest in IMAQdx instead of trying to jump through hoops with an older method.
