Can't remove a polymorphic VI from a missing lvlib

Solved!
Go to solution
Normal VI's have a File > Disconnect from Library menu item, but polymorphic VIs don't. If a poly is part of a lvlib, and the lvlib is deleted, the poly is broken with a "This VI is connected with a library that LabVIEW cannot find. Find and load the library or select File»Disconnect from Library" message. I don't have the original lvlib, and there's no File > Disconnect from Library menu item - how do I fix my poly?

Workaround: save it under a new name - the new copy will be disconnected from the lvlib.

Another work-around might be to create a new lvlib, add it, and then disconnect it?

Just a thought.

Thank you for the report.  With your workaround, you must select the "open additional copy" option on the save as dialog.  Bob's workaround works as well.  This was reported to R&D (# 118218) for further investigation.

I was just starting to look into fixing this, and discovered it was already fixed in 8.6.  Thought I'd pass along the info.  Enjoy.  🙂
