HMI for siemens 840D

Has anyone ever used Labview as a HMI (machine interface)  to communicate with a siemens 840D ??

Am I correct to assume that LV can be set up to use any & all of the same plug-ins used by C programming.   For example, any active X control that can be reached via C can also similarly be reached through nodes in LV,  or could be linked to a C program which is linked to the end item?

Yes, LabVIEW can access ActiveX commands and can also interface with C code.
