Import Shared Library LV 8.5 does not work

When I tried to convert a DLL with the appropriate header, the Import function hangs when "Generation Progress" window appears. Everything was error free up to this point. I have referred to http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=289515&query.id=74647#M289515 and have tried to do a repair. The repair did not work. Is there a fix without having to upgrade? I can supply the DLL and Header file if desired. Thanks Jeff

Hi Jeff,

This does sounds similar to a bug we have on record.  So I can look into this further, can you tell me what version of LabVIEW this is happening in?  Do you happen to have the Report Generation Toolkit installed?

Also, when the Generation Progress window hangs, does it ever complete or will it hang forever?

As mentioned in the problem Title, it is LabVIEW 8.5. And yes I do have the Report Generation toolkit installed but I am not sure why you ask that question since this is a Import Shared Library issue. As for the Generation Progress window - it hangs forever. I left it open for over a half hour just to make sure and absolutely no bars start to appear in the progress bar. I have attached a picture of the Generation Progress window and the task manager so you may see that nothing is happening. I have also attached the dll and the header file. It is for an XP environment.

Thanks for the info, and sorry to make you repeat yourself!  Here is this issue..

This is a bug that has been reported to R&D (#99392) for further investigation.  This issue exists when you have the Report Generation Toolkit installed.  I know this seems to be completely unrelated, but thats what makes bugs just so much fun.Smiley Tongue

So what can you do?
First, it seems that sometimes a repair will fix the issue.  However this does not always work, as you have found.
The other option is to actually uninstall the Report Generation Toolkit, then do what you need to with the Import Shared Library Wizard.  After you are done, reinstall the Report Generation Toolkit.

Unfortunately this is the best solution until this bug is fixed.  Every now and then these things happen!

Also, if you do try the workaround (uninstall/import/reinstall) and your issue seems to be different, please let us know so we can investigate further!

We do appreciate your feedback!  Thanks!

The Report Generation Toolkit is a separately purchased item from NI.
