gpibprtk.sys cause blue screen of death on XP

Inexplicable blue screen of death when using NI GPIB driver. Seems to be sensitive to some version of driver or hardware, etc. Works on some systems.

A few questions..

  • What are you trying to do with GPIB driver?
  • What "versions of drivers" and "hardware" do you have installed and running?
  • What systems are you talking about?
Give us a little more information and we'll try and help.

I have a little more info on my orig problem.

We are using Ver 2.40 of the 488.2 NI software.
We seem to have isolated the occurence of the Blue screen of death to calling ilrsp(). ilwrt() and ilrd() do not cause a problem.
In addition on the Blue screen are the words "Page fault in non-paged area"
The problem is strange because it does not occur with all instruments and all systems. But in this particular case the problem is not intermittent.
A work around for us is the use of *STB? instead of ilrsp(). But we shouldn't have to do that.

v2.4 driver causing a "Blue Screen of Death". I have included in

this email the "GPIB420.sys" file that you can copy into your

"C:\Windows\System32\Drivers" folder. When you copy it in to this

folder click replace to replace the existing file that is already in

there. Let me know if you still have problems after this. Thanks

and have a great day. (Only for dell Precision)

Get this file from NI (depent of

I am interested in the gpib420.sys file. I cannot seem to read all of the prev mail nor do I see a link. Is there a trick?

Is this an alternative file from NI that addresses this or similar problems?

Hey guys,

For this specific issue, it'd be best to create a service request for email, or phone support. You can create that service request here. You can reference this forum, and the engineer with your issue will be able to get you set up with everything that you need.

Good luck!

Nick D.
