pb use an HPIB board with Labview

Hello

I've a pb for communicate with an HPIB board (dynamic signal analyseur HP35660a) via GPIB-USB-HS.

I found a NI document (ID:20KCIS7Z) where they said to uninstall NI-VISA and use HP-VISA. Where can I found HP-VISA?

Another way is to use HP-SICL and Agilent/HP I/O configuration. Same question : where can I found HP-SICL and Agilent/HP I/O configuration? (didn't found in Agilent website).

Thank you for your help.

Well, you certainly won't find Agilent software at NI's site. I know that I've downloaded it from Agilent in the past. Do another search for GPIB and try to find the IO Library which should include all drivers.

You can download Agilent IO Libraries at Agilent web site.  The latest version is IO Libraries Suite 14.1.
http://www.home.agilent.com/cgi-bin/pub/agilent/Product/cp_Product.jsp?NAV_ID=-536897828.536894874.0...

The "Suit 14.1" is little bit heavy for low-power PCs and there was the 2nd latest version - Agilent IO Libraries M01.01 which was bit light.  However, the old versions all have been discontinued thereby the only available version is "Suite 14.1".  The SETUP program of this installs both Agilent VISA (= HP VISA) and SICL.  The latest version requires WinXP/2k and .NET Framework.

Supported GPIB/HP-IB hardware is documented in the following version info table:

Hello

I can now communicate with the HP35660A via NI GPIB-USB-HS. I used HP-VISA (found it in I/O suite 14.1) and not NI-VISA.

But I don't found a Labview driver for this device. (it doesn't exist in Labview and Agilent driver databases).

Has somebody develop a Labview driver for the HP35660A? (or in another programmmation language?).

Thank you for your help

Hi, i have also the totally same situation with you. i have a HP53131A device and GPIB-USB-HS from NI. i have installed the I/O Library suit 15.0, and also configured the Password according to the NI document.but i stiil can't communicate with the HPIB interface of HP53131A. The MAX showed the information 'Instrument not found'. due to your case you have used the HP-Visa in the I/O suit, how can i find it, should i make some configration or uninstall the NI-Visa? can somebody answer my question?

Your situation isn't close to being the same. The original poster had an Agilent controller and a different instrument. Why would you install a driver for an Agilent controller when you have one from NI. Uninstall everything from Agilent and then re-install the correct drivers from NI and see if it works then. The vendor of the instruments has nothing at all to do with what hardware driver you install for the controller.

I have previously tried to communicate the HPIB device with GPIB-USB-HS from NI and MAX, but it didn't work, i can't find the HP53131A in MAX. The original poster has also a GPIB-USB-HS with which he tried to communicate with HP35660A(but i don't known what does pb mean) but it failed, and then he had installed the agilent driver and solved the communication problem.

Sorry, you are right that the original poster also had an NI controller. It was the other device that required the Agilent driver I believe.

The 53131A is a modern instrument and does not require any software from Agilent in order to be recognized. I don't think the 53131A requires anything to enable the GPIB port but that's one thing to look for in the manual. You could also try a different cable or try connecting a different instrument. First, though, you want to make sure that there is nothing left of the Agilent software and that MAX recognizes the NI controller and that all of the tests pass for the controller itself.

Thanks for you anwser, it is very weird, i have tested the NI Controller and the MAX,it works good, i have also tested  it  with agilent GPIB-USB cable and I/O suit, there are no problem, it dosn't work only with ni GPIB USB cable.
