Problem with PCI-GPIB interface card to control Agilent 8648D signal generator

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi

I downloaded Plug and Play (project-style) driver for Agilent 8648A signal generator. I use LabVIEW 2011.

I open project file and choose COM1 from menu for VISA resource name. It should be noted that I use 82350B PCI-GPIB Interface Card.

I run the project and I get timeout error.

Is there some problem in the PCI-GPIB interface or am I missing something? I'm new to LabView and to PCI-GPIB interface, and I would really appreciate any help.

Thank you

Yasamin Gharib

Why are you choosing COM1?

GPIB is not a com port.

Since you aren't using an NI GPIB, go into MAX, select software and then NI-VISA. In the window on the right, click the VISA Options tab and then select Passports under General Settings. Check the NI-VISA Passport for Tulip.

I'm assumimg you loaded the driver from Agilent and tested communication with their software.
