I just made a HUGE mistake and deleted 4 months worth of test results from system link. Is there any way to recover these results? This is hosted on premise and not in the cloud

Hi jdkdev,
If the test results were created by TestStand, then you may still have XML "report" files that TestStand outputs. The same data you just lost is contained in those individual report files.
If your SystemLink Server computer is a virtual machine hosted by IT or a cloud service, then they should be able to give you a backup image, hopefully from yesterday. We can help you export the Test Monitor records from that backup image and restore them to the database back end that your SystemLink is using.

Hi Brad,
Thanks for the response here. We are working to get a backup from the server hosting facility as a first step.
I guess a follow up question on this is, do you know if there are any recommendations on how to make it either harder to delete or make it more clear that the user is going to permanently delete entry's from the database that cannot be undone?

Hi jdkdev,
The simplest approach is to grant users the privilege to create new test results, but not the privilege to delete them. What default Role have you assigned these users in the "Security" page of SystemLink?
For instance, the default "Data Maintainer" role has the following permission:
"Delete test results and products"
That's the permission you want to avoid giving to all your SystemLink users to avoid this scenario. You can pick a different default Role or create your custom Role any way you like, with just the permissions you want your users to have.
