Primus Power’s modular EnergyFarm energy storage system required the development of an advanced control system to drive the high-speed switching of distributed power converters. Primus Power designed a power conversion system featuring 16 CompactRIO devices and partnered with JKI to architect and develop the control logic in LabVIEW software. The solution based purely on the LabVIEW Real-Time and LabVIEW FPGA modules allowed for extremely short iteration cycles, which made it possible to move the powertrain from prototype into a shipping product in a fraction of the time compared with traditional FPGA development. At this session, explore the challenges and the solution for this distributed high-speed control system.
