Overview:     Applied Minds is a small company in Burbank, CA that invents, designs and prototypes breakthrough products and services for both industry and government. We are an interdisciplinary group of artists, scientists and engineers, with skills in architecture, electronics, mechanics, physics, mathematics, software development, system engineering, and storytelling. Our projects range from toys to cancer treatments, from buildings to algorithms, and from off-road vehicles to high-resolution displays. If you are very good at what you do and like the idea of working in an interdisciplinary environment with other people who are as good or even better than you are, please upload your profile.     The Senior Electrical Engineer designs, builds, installs, maintains and repairs wiring and electronic equipment and systems.  The successful applicant needs to apply electrical theory and related knowledge to specify components, build, test, troubleshoot and modify electrical machinery, electrical control equipment and circuitry, and properly document these systems.     Responsibilities:         Efficiently build, assemble, and install electronic and electrical systems based upon technical drawings and specifications     Design and build high quality professional wiring harness for commercial, industrial, aerospace, and military systems     Wire analog, digital and audio/visual systems, to approved standards, with the highest degree of workmanship and documentation     Read drawings, schematics, technical manuals, and engineering instructions     Diagnose causes of malfunctions, troubleshoot and correct     Maintain documentation of system installation, logs, and maintenance procedures     Work with engineers and designers to understand the concepts behind the systems being engineered and built     Work well with others, supervise, mentor and train junior staff     Be a hands-on, thoughtful, and efficient team player     All other duties as assigned      Qualifications:     Required:      A degree in electrical engineering, or equivalent work experience (10 years minimum relevant experience, 20 preferred)     Demonstrated knowledge with analog, digital, power systems, and experience building electronic, audio/video, electro mechanical, electro-optical, and automotive systems     Demonstrated knowledge with PLC programming, and PC based control systems hardware and software     Experience working in a fast-paced, rapid-prototyping environment building one-off’s, and short run production.  This is a high technology R&D and prototyping company, not a production environment.     Demonstrated knowledge with wiring practices and standards for aerospace, automotive and milspec systems     Demonstrated thorough acquaintance with specifying components, documentation, as well as building these systems  Preferred:      Experience working with vehicular electrical/electronic/electromechanical systems     Experience with broadcast wiring     Experience working with theatrical lighting equipment and/or control systems     Experience working with photovoltaic and/or battery systems     Experience working in professional electrical construction     Experience installing and maintaining two-way radio voice and data communications systems     If interested, please contact me at tlindsey@appliedminds.com or directly at 818-332-5295
