TestStand Runtime Engine Networking Capabilities

Can the TestStand run time engine be shared by multiple test stations from
a server and be run from our own customised operator interface that would
reside on the test stations.

So say for example 30 machines would have access to 20 licenses so only 20
test stations could use the run time engine at one time, as we are unlikely
to be running 30 run time engines at once, it would help to cut costs & enable
me to more easily justify the purchase of TestStand as our Company Test Executive.

Are theyre any special requirements or pit falls with such a configuration?

Hi Paul,

TestStand needs to be installed from each individual development station
or runtime station depending on whether you are doing development or production
testing.

As the TestStand license is written, you would need to purchase a separate
copy for each of these stations. In your example, that would be 30 licenses.

We have heard requests for implementing a feature to run from a server, but
it isn't high on our priority list.

Because money may be an issue, I suggest talking with your local sales representative
to work on a "large volume" discount or something.

Hope this helps,
