USB-6008 is not seen in MAX, and NIDEVMON.exe gives an error on start

Hi,

I purchased an NI USB-6008 and installed the NI-DAQmx 9.3.5 drivers on a Windows 7 64bit system. When starting the computer the NIDEVMON application gives an error and requires to close, and the hardware is recognized by windows' device manager but not by MAX. Any ideas what I could do to fix this? I've already tried the suggestions from the NI webpage (firewall, not loading nidevmon, reinstalling drivers, etc.) and no luck so far...

Thank you!

Hi Motanul,

Did you log in as administrator? NI-DAQmx does not support guest accounts as stated in the Readme file, which you can find here. If you are logged in as administrator, have you tried the solution at this KnowledgeBase

If none of these solutions worked for you, can you post screenshots of the error?

Hi Tunde,

Thank you for the suggestions. The computer has only one user, and I am signed up as administrator. I also tried the procedures described in the knowledge base but with no success. I am attaching a few screenshots of the process as well. Please let me know if there's something else I should try. Shot1.jpg contains the message given when I try to start NIDevLoader, or NI PXI resource Manager. Shot3.jpg shows the USB-6008 unit in Windows' Devices and Printers, and Shot4.jpg the same unit missing from MAX.

Thank you!

Hi Motanul,

Based on the error message you received I think it would be a good idea to update the drivers to latest version. You can download the latest version of DAQmx at this URL:

I hope this information helps.

Hi James,

Thank you for your answer. I did remove the version I had installed, and updated to the new one. The situation changed ... but not for better: nidevmon is still not loading on startup, the device is still not recognized, and when I launch MAX I get this error message (see scr1.jpg). I can send you the log files if you consider important, but I'd rather do it through email. If I choose to continue and click on devices to see the USB-6008, I get a new error (see scr2.jpg). Any idea what to do next?

Thanks!
