USB-6008 installation-USB 6xxx firmware loader error

During the installation of my USB-6009 hardware, I've encountered a problem:
After installing NI-DAQ (8.0, on the CD that came with the hardware), I restarted the PC & plugged in the USB-attached part. A "Found new hardware window USB-6009" popped up. Then, after a very brief time, a second window pops up :

"Digital signature not found <saying something about the software hasn't been verified to work with windows etc. > The final question is posed: Do you want to continue with the installation? If I click either Yes, or No, I get the same error:

Completing the Found New Hardware Wizard USB-6009. An error occured during the installation of the device. The form specified for the subject is not one supported or known by the specified trust provider. There's one button- Finish. If I click it, the procedure repeats infinitely.

The hardware is showing up in Windows 2000 Hardware Device manager & also shows in Measurement and Automation Explorer. In the latter, the serial number is N/A, and I can't run a successful diagnostic test on the device.

Suggestions? I've tried installing the newest NIDAQ 8.1 from the web site, but am still getting the same error. A colleague has also installed on his laptop and is getting identical errors!

Hello Scott,

If you've tried upgrading to the latest version (8.1) of the NI-DAQmx driver, and are seeing this issue across multiple systems, the hardware may be damaged.  Do you have any other USB DAQ hardware that you could try in place of the USB-6009?  I would recommend creating a service request with National Instruments support at 1-866-275-6964 to arrange to have your device repaired.

I also purchased a USB-6008 board, so have also tried that. I am getting the same error with that one (and initially also a colleague's PC with XP, but with the re-install, his PC is running both boards), but with my WIn2k laptop, even with the error, I can run the test panel when it pops up (& it shows a flat 0V signal being read); it does keep trying to do the install repeatdly, though. I'm in email conversation with another person at NI (Justin M.) If I don't get a resolution, I may have to send back the hardware, but I don't think that's defective, as it runs on the other PC.

Hello ScottSs,

I agree that if the hardware now works on your colleagues computer, that it is probably not malfunctioning.  This points to the driver installation or USB controller on your PC as the source of the problem.  One thing that came to mind is to make sure that you are logged in as an administrator on your system when installing the USB device.  Its strange that you can still run your test panels despite this problem.  In Measurement & Automation Explorer, does your device appear under Devices and Interfaces > NI-DAQmx Device?  If so, what happens when you right-click on the device and select Self-Test?  Also, can you check the status of the device in your Windows Device Manager, found under My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager?  Let me or Justin know some answers to these questions and hopefully we can get this issue resolved.

Hi, I am having the similar problem. I can't see the USB-6008 under MAX, and when I check the device manager in windows vista, it shows "USB-6xxx Firmware Loader" under Data Acquisition Devices.

I also notice that the light on USB-6008 isn't flashing.

I have tried to connect another USB-6008 device which function properly. I can see it under MAX, and it also shows "USB-6008" in windows vista's device manager.

Is that a hardware problem? and how long is its warranty from NI?

Thanks,
