How to display a warning message saying that something is not connected?

Hello, I'm new to this forum.

I am using a USB-6009 DAQ and would like to do a basic test on LabView to make sure that the PCB is connected to the test connector. i.e if the board isnt detected then it should give a warning to say to connect first instead of failing the test. I tried searching for answers but couldn't find anything in the search results?

If you know two signals that are at least somewhat connected, you may be able to output a DIO line to pin 1 and then read on pin 2 using another DIO line.  If you set DIO1 high and you read DIO2 as high, you are connected up.
