Configuring DAQ on machine without DAQ hardware for distribution on machines with hardware installed.

I am trying to configure DAQ and digital I/O on a laptop (where the application software is installed) for use in a PC based machine?  I want to develop different applications and use the app builder to distribute it as necessary without buying a number of copies of the Labview 8.0 I do not need.

Hi bmitan,

First you will need to install the latest version of the drivers:
Currently - NI-DAQmx Version 8.1 for Windows 2000/XP

Then you can do exactly what you want by creating a simulated device.

Here are the details:
Tutorial: NI-DAQmx Simulated Devices

Basically you can develop the application just as if there was something connected and you can test it for any logical errors.  However, keep in mind that since this is a simulation you will not have all features available or if they are available it may not occur with the same timing.
