Cannot read analog input with USB-6008

Hi,

I have a new installation of Labview 8.2, and all of the associated software that comes with the Full development package including the newest Ni-Daq MX .  In an earlier installation, I had both Ni-Daq MX and Ni-Daq MX Base.  I would aoccasionally have to swith the driver in max back to Ni_Daq MX in order for the usb-6008 nto read correctly on it's analog inputs RSE.

Since I set up this new system, with the clean install, I cannot read anything but -10.1V on any analog input.  Same hardware, wiring, etc.  Everything else on the USB-6008 (digital inputs) works fine, except the analog input.  I tried uninstalling the driver and re-installing it, no help.  The test panels also show the same results.

This is a new computer, software, etc.  Please help

Hi Zener,

Do you have NI-DAQmx Base installed on this new machine?  If so, use the NI-DAQmx USB Driver Selector that can be found under the Tools menu in MAX to make sure you are using the USB-6008 with DAQmx (just as you did on your previous machine).

Once you verify that the device is using NI-DAQmx, make sure that it shows up under the NI-DAQmx Devices folder in MAX.  From there, proceed to the Test Panels again.  Is it only the DIO that works?  How about the Analog Output?  Try resetting the device and make sure it passes the self-test as well...

Let me know how it goes!

Thanks.  I have already tried this.  In fact, when I do the switch, the usb-6008 dissapears in MAX.  I have to go to the device manager, uninstall it, and re plug it back in to find it again.  Then it shows back up in MAX.

I put daq mx base on this computer so I could do the switch.  I had to do the switch every time when I had it on my last computer.

I got the analog input to work correctly once.  Now I cannot re-produce the same sequence of events that led up to that.

I have read a lot of postings related, but not the exact same.  I have the software subscription service but do not know the number to call for tech support.

Hi Zener,

Your USB-6008 does not need NI-DAQmx Base...I would suggest uninstalling this driver from your system and strictly using NI-DAQmx.  Give that a try, reboot, and make sure the device is seen in MAX.  Then give it a try in Test Panels...     (By the way, FYI, our support number is 866-ASK-MYNI)

Please let me know how that goes!
