Warning - Lookout in Windows Vista 64

We installed our first system using Windows Vista 64-bit.  And the problems have started.

These are not so much NI problems as Microsoft problems, but NI could fix it by making Lookout 64-bit.

The problem involves memory usage.  Vista 64 creates an "isolated" environment for 32-bit programs, like Lookout.  The problem is that the memory allocation is not managed correctly, causing the 32-bit programs to report normal memory usage.  When in fact, the 32-bit environment is constantly taking memory.

On startup, everything started, idling for 5 minutes.  Memory usage is 1.2-1.3GB.  After 2 days, 2.6-2.7GB, and after about 2 weeks, all memory (4GB in this case) is completely used causing the well known  "Windows is out of memory." warning.

The specs of this machine:

Intel Core2Duo 2.8Ghz (Wolfdale)

Intel DG33FBC (G33 Chipset)

4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 800

Western Digital 650GB "Green" - System

2xWestern Digital 500GB "RAID Edition" - Data/Recovery (Silicon Image Chipset RAID card)

Windows Vista Business x64 - OEM

Dual 56k modems, most compnents are integrated into board, DVD Burner, Floppy, card reader

The attached pictures are showing the memory usage for lookout and its SQL Server.  Of not, the actual usgae is NOT correct.

Mostly just sharing, but any ideas welcome.

Thank you for sharing the information.

Our Vista64 test machine won't be available in next several days. I will do some tests when it is available.

We are simply redoing the machine in XP, of course now that extra RAM does nothing.  Maybe the next "major" version could be for Win 7 64?  Wasting time on Vista, its gone is 22 days...
