Lookout connect PLC through local network

Hello, I am a new Lookout user.

Can I connect my PLC (with Modbus TPC module) with my PC (with Lookout) through the local network (i.e. connecting them by a switch box or router)?

We need to monitor our system but we don't want to put our PC on site. We are planning to setup a switch box on site and connect it to PLC with Modbus TPC moduleIs it possible?

It is a networking problem. Actually Lookout doesn't know if there is a switch or not. Lookout just uses the ip address and port to make the connection. So you need to be able to ping the remote Modbus device's ip address and the port is not blocked.

Thanks Ryan,

That's meant Lookout can get the information from my PLC if we know the IP of our Modbus TCP module and there is no block between them. Then, can you tell me what is the object in Lookout so that I can use it to make the connection. Thanks

The driver object is called Modbus. It supports both serial connection and Ethernet connection.

Thanks....I tested the connection and it works fine.

My Lookout can read the data from PLC thro' Internet.

Can anyone tell me how to write data to PLC from NI?
