An unhandled exception occured in lmgrd.exe

I have been getting the error:  "An unhandled exception occured in lmgrd.exe" during windows startup since installing LabWindows CVI 2010.  It seems to have something to do with the license manager.  Any ideas on how to fix this error?

Does lmgrd.exe still crash if you run it again after startup?

Use the following in the command prompt:

lmgrd -l C:\lmgrdlog.txt

Are you running a volume license server? Is "C:\flexlm\license.dat" provided by NI? Are licenses typically come with the .lic extension. Are you able to ignore this error and run CVI normally? This is not something related to a typical install of CVI. It may be unrelated. If you are not running a license server, then you can probably disable lmgrd as a startup process.

We are not running a license server for CVI.  I changed the service to manual and will try rebooting later.  What NI services are required on startup?  There seems to be a lot of them that NI has added in recent years.  Why can't they just be started when the application starts?

Most of them can be set to automatic. If you are not running a license server, then you do not need this service for CVI. The service is needed for some other NI products such as LabVIEW Remote Panels.
