read file in cd rom drive

how to detect cd drive??

as manually, if you double click 'cd drive e:' in my computer, message box 'please insert a disk into drive e:' will appear...

it is possible for NI to do like that??

and after i insert a disk into cdrom, NI can read all the file in the disk...

Yes.  Treat it the same as a file on your C:\ drive.  The questioning to insert a CD is a function of the operating system.  It has nothing to do with any software such as LabVIEW.

If you want to be generate the same sort of message from LV, attempt to read the file. If the it works you are good. If you get an error from the read attempt open a dialog box and when the user says OK, retry the read.
