If I use the temporary file path vi, do i have to delete the files created in the temporary directories?  or will they be deleted automatically later on?

They will stay there forever. However, certain maintenance tools (e.g. disk cleanup) assume that files in the temporary locations can be safely deleted at any time (unless they are still in use).
