About the only exception this rule for me is when parsing XML (or any other kind of cascading code like that). Then I like to keep the reference wires straight and offset the nodes so my open and close references line up.
I unusually still end up straightening the error, even then. But it's in the gray zone for sure.

Thanks for the help, it did clarify the LabVIEW coding part. Now I'm just left to run Unity at a higher output rate, since the HTC Vive which is linked to Unity runs best @90Hz.
